From 18th September 2017 the former chief executive of Havas Sport & Entertainment, Tove Okunniwa, will take up her post as the chief executive of London Sport.
Tove comes into her role with an array of expertise in sport, as well as commercial and marketing consultations. Prior to her recent offer she was the Managing Director of WPP agency, during which she led to many annual achievements and sponsorship awards.
There is no doubt that Tove brings a refreshing change to the board at Havas, having previously led global marketing division at Havas, she not only brings an insiders perspective – she also inculcates her outside capabilities and experiences from BBC Sports and other broad ranging sports organisation.
A key drive and passion for Okunniwa is also ‘diversity and equality’. Tove is a strong advocate on the empowerment of people’s lives through physical activity and sport. She mentioned that:
“Physical activity and sport are critical to the health and wellbeing of our great city, and I look forward to doing whatever I can to help achieve London’s vision of becoming the most physically active city in the world.”
Richard Barker, the Vice-Chair of London Sport also said – “This is a critical time for our organisation, and I, and the Board of London Sport, are thrilled to welcome Tove on board at this exciting time for sport in the capital.”
Barker continued to commend Tove on her track record with major organisations like the BBC and clear values and beliefs in physical activity and sports as an underpinning factor for her success in a ‘highly-competitive selection process.’
Tove joins London Sport at a very exiting time. The organisation will be having an official opening of their new workspace dedicated to creative thinking and collaboration in sports. The House of Sport will serve as a pioneering move for dialogue and developments in the sports scene of London.
With London Sport’s many achievements lined-up to claim over the year Tove’s wealth of experience should facilitate the support and growth of physical activity and sport in across London.
